Dr.Suminori Echizenya

Dr. Suminori is at the forefront of dental innovation. He is the dentist who performs the most implant surgery in Hokkaido.

He has successfully completed many difficult surgeries.

He holds an International Congress of Oral Implantologists Mastership and became a member of the ZAGA Centers Network, making his clinic one of just two ZAGA Centers in Japan and the exclusive center in Hokkaido, raising the bar for dental care standards in Japan.

Certified clinic of the global implant network Zaga Center

ZAGA CENTER is a worldwide network of dental specialists in the field of zygomatic implants (implants in the jawbone), and was founded in Barcelona, Spain in 2015, with a set of specialized courses. Only dentists who have mastered all of these can become ZAGA CENTER certified facilities.

GDH IMPLANT OFFICE SAPPORO is “ZAGA CENTER SAPPORO” that is one of only two Zaga Center certified clinics in Japan.

Specialist staff members

GDH IMPLANT OFFICE SAPPORO is outstanding among other dental clinics.

Our goal is to maintain high standards for surgical reliability, speed, and safety, and to provide patients with safe and reliable treatment.

We achieve this through collaboration between experts in various fields.

Implantologist

Refers to dentists who are experts in implantology. Implantology is a field of dentistry that specializes in dental prosthetics and restorations. Implantologists are among the dentists who receive the education and training needed to place implants.

Prosthodontist

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Extensive training and education provide prosthodontists with the skills for restoring optimum function and aesthetics to your smile. These include: crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, complete and removable partial dentures, dental implants and cosmetic restoration.

Systemic management physician

At GDH IMPLANT OFFICE SAPPORO, we ensure the safety of the patients by including a systemic management physician in the operating staff.
The systemic management physician administers intravenous sedation to alleviate anxiety and discomfort prior to surgery, attaches devices, including electrocardiogram electrodes, a blood pressure gauge, and a pulse oximeter, to the patients’ body, and monitors the readings throughout the procedure for the safety of the patients, including those with chronic conditions.

Dental hygienists specializing in implantology

At GDH IMPLANT OFFICE SAPPORO, we pride ourselves in employing dental hygienists specializing in implantology who possess not only a high level of expertise in implants but also a strong sense of responsibility and passion to continue gaining experience in implant treatment.

Medical equipment for complex surgery

GDH IMPLANT OFFICE SAPPORO is fully equipped with medical equipment such as a dedicated operating room, monitoring equipment, oxygen inhalers, and nitrous oxide gas (for inhalation sedation) for safe surgeries.

Before implant treatment, a specialist will perform a CT scan to accurately determine the condition of the jawbone and the location of the nerves.

The Process of Implant Treatment

① CT Scan Examination

Before beginning any treatment, a comprehensive CT scan is conducted to assess the patient’s jawbone structure, density, and to identify the precise location for implant placement. This step is crucial for planning the implant surgery with accuracy and ensuring the best possible outcome.

② Consultation

During your consultation with the patient, we will explain in detail the goals of the treatment, expected results, and possible risks and complications. We also listen to the patient’s health status and treatment expectations and adjust the treatment plan.

③ Treatment decision

The final treatment plan will be determined based on the CT scan results and counseling. At this stage, we will also confirm the type and number of implants, treatment schedule, and cost.

Please rest assured that payment will only be made after you are satisfied with the treatment plan.

④ Preoperative Preparation

This involves preparing the patient for surgery, which may include any necessary dental work to improve oral health, as well as instructions on how to prepare for the day of the surgery. The aim is to ensure the patient’s mouth is in optimal condition before implant placement to enhance the success of the procedure.

⑤ Implant Surgery

The implant surgery is performed under local anesthesia, where a titanium post (the implant) is precisely placed into the jawbone at the predetermined location. This procedure requires skilled technique and precision to ensure the implant is correctly positioned for optimal function and aesthetics.

⑥ Healing Period

After the surgery, a period of healing (osseointegration) is required, during which the jawbone grows around and bonds with the surface of the implant. This process is critical for providing a strong foundation for the new tooth and can take several months.

⑦ Abutment and Prosthesis Fitting

Once the implant has successfully integrated with the jawbone, an abutment is attached to the implant. This serves as the connection point for the crown, bridge, or denture (the prosthesis) that will be placed on top of it. The prosthesis is custom-made to match the patient’s natural teeth in color and shape, restoring functionality and aesthetics.

⑧ Maintenance

After the implant and prosthesis have been placed, regular follow-up visits are necessary to monitor the implant’s condition and to ensure the health of the surrounding tissue. Proper oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining the longevity and success of the implant.
